It's not just our photographers that are helping to capture the world through photography, there are thousands of people working hard behind the scenes across the world to bring these images to you.
In this 'Who We Are' series, we look at the many job roles at a photography agency from picture editors, to sales and marketing to art directors.
This time, it’s over to Dubai to meet Mark Steele, Senior Sales Manager in Dubai and a qualified pilot.
What skills do you need for your job?
First and foremost I am involved with sales and leading my sales team in Dubai and Istanbul. However as the country manager of two small offices, we don’t have any support staff based locally. This means I get to do a little of everything from HR, finance, facilities, IT, legal and marketing. As an example, at the moment I am assisting facilities and legal with renewing our lease and trade license for our Dubai office.
Sales is of course, the number one priority and I try to make sure that most of my time is spent there. However I do enjoy the variety of being actively involved with all the different functions.
Whose career do you admire?
Inside of Getty Images, that would be David Cannon as I absolutely love golf and that man has had a front row seat to all the great golf moments in the last few decades! He is also a brilliant photographer and highly respected in the world of golf by everyone including the players.
What’s the best thing about the city you live in?
The diversity, Dubai is a melting pot of different cultures which exposes you to many new things. The ultra conservative against the wild west. It is amazing to see how everyone coexists together in what is actually a fairly small city.
How do you like to spend Sundays?
I have no choice, in the office! We work a Sunday to Thursday week in Dubai.
What’s your secret talent?
I am a qualified pilot, learnt how to fly when I finished school which was very cool at the time.
