Kate Waterhouse is a journalist, style blogger, media personality, radio talent and columnist for The Sun-Herald. A member of Australia’s racing royalty; Kate has grown up in the media spotlight. She is the daughter of leading thoroughbred trainer Gai Waterhouse and grand-daughter of racing legend Tommy “TJ” Smith.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Communication, Kate’s achievements in journalism include being the Fashion Editor for The Sun-Herald from 2009 to 2013 where she reported on the latest fashion news and current trends. In March 2013, Kate launched KATEWATERHOUSE.com, a dedicated website providing fashion and beauty news, trend reports, behind the scenes insight and style inspirations to her dedicated followers.
Kate continues to write her weekly Date with Kate column, featured in The Sun-Herald, in which she interviews the most sought-out local and international personalities of the moment, with a list that includes Julia Gillard, Ian Thorpe, Kim Kardashian, Michael Clarke, Miranda Kerr, Elle Macpherson and Dita Von Teese.
Kate has also contributed works to various magazine publications such as Australia’s Woman’s Weekly and Germany’s Vanity Fair where she had the world exclusive interview with the King of Tonga during his coronation. Kate has also been the face and presenter of Foxtel’s Lifestyle YOU and continues to do regular appearances for the channel. She is also a regular guest for the Seven Network’s Sunrise program, where she discusses and comments on the current topics of the day as one of ‘Kochies Angels’ and was most recently seen in Celebrity Come Dine With Me on the LifeStyle Channel.
Kate has been a co-host for the horseracing on Brisbane’s MMM radio and also does regular racing, fashion and entertainment related TV segments for various networks. Kate was the David Jones Racewear ambassador for six years and most recently has been involved in campaigns for SKII Christmas, G.H Mumm and Nokia.
