Go behind the scenes of The Royal Tour with our photographer blogs from New Zealand and Australia. Chris Hyde gives us his best edit from the RAAF Amberley Base in Brisbane.

Having waited three hours for the Brisbane leg of the Royal Couple’s Easter tour, a ripple of excitement travelled through the local media contingent as Kate and Wills finally touched down on the tarmac of the RAAF Amberley Base.

The usual throng of public admirers was missing on this morning, as this was a private event hosted by military dignitaries and their families.

Photographers and journalists speculated about what impressive attire the Duchess of Cambridge would don.  She did not disappoint, stepping out into the searing Queensland heat in a vibrant blue and white LK Bennett dress adorned in printed poppies.

Camera shutters clicked rapidly as they disembarked the military aircraft to greet an honour guard. I used a 1dx with 400 2.8 lens which was just enough.

The smiling couple – minus baby George who stayed in Canberra for the duration of their brief stay - greeted military before heading to a function inside as media jostled for a better position to capture them as they walked past. They then left by motorcade for Southbank to greet thousands of fans.
