This year at SXSW, Getty Images House offering visitors the opportunity to refuel and recharge as well as learn about our business.

Photographer Al Bello will be discussing the defining moments of his career. 

Al Bello is Chief Sports Photographer in North America and has covered major sporting events including Super Bowls, World Series and Olympic Games.

What matters to Al is innovation and this is evident in his photography. He has captured sporting moments from the touchline, above the action, underwater, using robotics and sometimes even his camera phone.

Al is always searching for a way to do something new, exploring angles and experimenting with techniques. This determination combined with an understanding of sport produces powerful stories. Al shares the moments that have defined him and his craft, and the sports and stars he has immortalized through award-winning photography.

About Al Bello

Al Bello graduated with a Liberal Arts degree from the University of New York at Stony Brook in 1989. In March of 1990 Al worked as Darkroom Manager for The Ring boxing magazine. Al soon found his way by photographing boxing on a weekend basis while processing, and printing film during the week. In 1993 Al landed a position as a junior photographer at Allsport which is now a part of Getty images.

Since Joining Getty, Al has become Chief Sports Photographer in North America on a very talented staff. He is assigned to cover sporting events and people in sport worldwide. He has just covered his tenth Olympic Games in Sochi.
