Front and center is Julia Mancuso of the United States, who took the bronze medal and she is clearly excited. Behind her, lying on the ground is the gold medalist Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany, who collapses to the ground in apparent relief. The silver medalist in the back, Nicole Hosp of Austria, seems to have little reaction at all, as if she was happy to medal, but would have been happier with a gold.”
