Being a photographer means you are always on the go - your office is essentially wherever your work brings you. Our photographers use the tag #mygettyoffice on Instagram to show us where in the world they are.

This image was taken at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics during the men’s ski slope style event.

To get to the position where I took this image of my gear, I had to hike up the side of the hill, through snow, for about half a mile.

I was carrying a lot of camera gear and it was surprisingly warm. A perfect sunny day is great for imagery in alpine conditions.

The photo equipment I had on me was the following:

2 x Canon 1Dx cameras
1 x 400mm lens
1 x 70-200mm lens
1 x 24-70mm lens
1 x 16-35mm lens
Pocket wizard remotes
Mini tripod, monopod, spare batteries, memory cards, a 2-way radio, water, a Kit-Kat and sunscreen

Between the practice and competition, I was unable to move position so I waited patiently and took this image of my office for the day, uploaded it to Instagram and tagged it with #mygettyoffice

The camera with the blue cover was a remote camera pointing at a giant Russian Doll the skiers were launching over. The camera in the foreground I used to capture athletes launching off a big kicker next to me. The IT guys also hand built WIFI antennas for the camera which enabled images to be sent directly to the editors at the Main Press Centre in Sochi at broadband speeds.

For the Olympics I covered 23 Gold Medal events at seven venues, these included moguls, aerials, half pipe, ski-cross, slopestyle and slalom.

Every day, I had a different office and different elements to contend with including rain and heavy snowfall.

Fortunately we were given great technical wear before the Games so I was nice and warm and kept dry.

The Winter Olympics is an exciting event to photograph because up in the mountains the weather is so unpredictable; the photography is so diverse because of this and also having stunning mountain ranges as a backdrop.

It’s definitely one of my favourite events and I had an amazing experience....a bit different from the sun and sand I left behind in Sydney...

Here is a selection of images I took from this position:
